I've recently been in email and IM contact with Michael Yon. Michael is currently in Afghanistan but not for much longer. He's planning a trip back to Iraq. He has hopes of returning to Afghanistan for several months after Iraq but will not be able to do so unless he gets some SERIOUS financial backing and SOON! Here's part of an IM conversation I had with Michael a couple of days ago:
Michael: I am making a last ditch effort right now to secure funding. Postcard mailout on 16 Sept -- if that secures funding, I can keep going. If not, there is no way to afford this. Support at this point does not even cover insurance!
Michael has several opportunities to embed with various units in multiple locations around Afghanistan but will not be able to without financial support. WE NEED MICHAEL TO REPORT TO US ABOUT AFGHANISTAN.

Michael's Dispatches from Iraq were the most insightful of anyone reporting from there. He has recently embedded with the Brits in southern Afghanistan and has posted three dispatches. If you haven't read Where Eagles Dare you need to read it. WOW! And while you're there check out Hurrican Afghanistan, Death in the Corn Part I and Death in the Corn Part II of III. If you've never read Michael's dispatches I hope by reading the aforementioned you will be eager for more and motivated to make a donation so that we can.
