For those of you who have emailed to ask me why mail can take a long time to arrive at the remote outposts, hopefully the following photo will help to explain:
COL John Spiszer presents the Silver Star with Valor to LTC James Markert at FOB Bostick on Thanksgiving Day 2008 for his actions in this ambush.
I received an email with some GREAT news yesterday from Bob Connolly. Bob has become one of my favorite "partners in crime" in troop support. Yesterday his family, and one of his daughters, Regan, got the BEST Christmas present. Bob's son-in-law, Josh Huneycutt, returned from deployment to Afghanistan. A few photos below but more photos and the story at this link.
WELCOME HOME JOSH!
A heartfelt "Thank You" to you and Regan and all of the other Soldiers and family members in your unit.
And just a side note - while Josh was serving our great nation in one part of Afghanistan Bob worked tirelessly to ensure that the Soldiers of the 173rd Airborne and now the 6-4 Cavalry were getting huge amounts of support. Definitely one great American family.

Get crackin'. Not much time left!
To the Men and Women of the United States military, and all the armed forces around the world, thank you for everything that you do. And to those who are laying their heads down tonight in a foreign land, away from your loved ones, thank you so very much. Stay safe, you're in our thoughts and our hearts. Merry Christmas.
These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived
