Friday Nights at Walter Reed Army Medical Center - It Changes Lives
If you live ANYWHERE near Walter Reed Army Medical Center or are planning a trip to Washington, DC PLEASE make the time to join the Freepers outside the gates of Walter Reed on Friday nights. EVERY Friday night. They have been there rain, snow, sleet, heat or shine for over two years now to show our beloved Wounded Warriors how much they are loved, appreciated, RESPECTED and supported.
Why is this so important? There are numerous reasons but allow me to let Katie O'Malley tell you one reason why. In a post she wrote on her website there is a paragraph (it's the next to the last paragraph) she wrote:
"At 9:30, the bus pulled in to Walter Reed to the sounds of deafening cheering and applause and an enthusiastic, if not pitch perfect, rendition of God Bless America. The shock and wonder on those young faces was humbling. The bus stopped part way up the drive and a young soldier on crutches, missing half of his leg but none of his pride or enthusiasm, came to the crowd with his beautiful wife to thank them. He told them, “The guys on the bus asked me to come out and thank every one of you for being here. You mean so much to us. My friend wanted to come out but he is a triple-amputee and couldn’t easily get off the bus. When we pulled around the corner and saw all of you, it was the first time I have really seen him smile since he came back. Thank you."
Now what are you waiting for? Get on down to WRAMC on Friday nights. I've been there on numerous occassions and it's worth the trip, worth the time and so worth the boost it gives the patients at Walter Reed. And you won't leave there the same person you were when you came either.

Thanks so much for passing that support onto our brave soldiers.
Aw, Donna, I get the same reaction from my buddies in the Building Inspections office evey Monday when I send them updates. The head of Building Inspections says he has to explain why he has tears in his eyes at their weekly Monday meetings.
UPDATE ON WRAMC:
This Friday, 28 March will be the third anniversry of continuous Friday night Troop Support Rallies at Walter Reed. Every Friday night for three years straight.
