2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry (Airborne) "The Rock" update 10/20/07
I have received the following items in the past three days:
From Dan in Florida - A substantial size box filled with socks, nuts, power bars, hot cocoa mix, etc. Dan also sent a separate large envelope with about 40 hand written post cards. Some had Florida scenes on them. The others were Gathering of Eagles "post cards" he had printed off of the internet. Each card had a unique note written on it. FANTASTIC!
From Mr. R in Memphis - a check for $50.00 which I used to order seven balaclava's via the U S Cavalry link at "A Soldier's Perspective" blog here. "A Soldier's Perspective" donates EVERY PENNY they receive via orders at U S Cavalry through their website to various charities.
Someone (and I have no idea who) ordered ten balaclavas from U S Cavalry and had them shipped to me for forwarding on to the Soldiers of "The Rock." Who ever "you" are we sure do appreciate you.
Everything was forwarded on to Afghanistan today.
I have received some emails this week from individuals indicating they have either ordered for direct shipment to me or are mailing items to me. Ron in Illinois ordered 10 pair of wool hiking socks and "Bad Cat Robot" emailed indicating she is sending 2 boxes (40 pair each) hand warmers, 1 box (704 count) baby wipes, 1 box (42 count) specialty hot chocolate packets, 1 box (25 count) ImmuneFizz drink powder and 3 pair wool socks. She added that she wanted to be sure they were the correct type of socks before purchasing more. How wonderful is that?
Many thanks to everyone who has already made a donation. For those of you who haven't we still need the following. Remember - every contribution makes a difference to our Soldiers.
1600 pair of longjohns - example here
780 balaclavas (to keep head and neck warm) - example here
800 neck gaitors - example here
Hand warmers
Wool hiking socks - dark colors (grey is OK)
Unscented baby wipes
Lotion for dry skin
Fleece Blankets - dark colors
